There is no doubt that Novak Djokovic is in perfect shape and has been preparing vigorously for Tel Aviv. He seems unstoppable. While his quarter-final game was not something overly taxing, the game against a formidable Russian player should have been far from a cakewalk. However, the Serbian showed up big and dismantled his opposition in a decisive 6-1, 7-6 (7-3) victory.
The next round will be very exciting!
Fans all over the world are watching the dominance of Djokovic over the tennis world. He seems to be very comfortable with the crown of the best. The Tel Aviv Open is an important event in the professional tour with millions of dollars on the line. Only the best managed to get to the playoff stage. Djokovic is certainly among the best which he proved by dominating over Roman Safiullin ranked number 92 in the world.
Interestingly, Djokovic is ranked below Safiullin by a large margin due to forfeiting multiple tournaments and refusing to take a vaccine against COVID-19. More health complications prevented him from participating in important events. Nevertheless, the Serbian looks very strong in Tel Aviv where he is demonstrating excellent technique and impressive physique making a strong statement about his current form and future ambitions.
In the game against Djokovic, Roman Safiullin started rushing things to seal his initial 4-0 advantage. However, he made 13 unforced errors and lost all the momentum, and ultimately lost 6-1 in just 27 minutes. The sheer volume of uncharacteristic mistakes on the Russian side demonstrates how Djokovic puts pressure by simply stepping on the grass of the tennis court. Despite being good with servings and putting up a fight in a couple of games, Safiullin could not overcome the mighty Serbian.
What’s next for Djokovic?
Marin Cilic from Croatia will be facing Djokovic in the final round of the Tel Aviv Open tournament. After that, the Serbian will make his way to Kazakhstan to participate in Astana Open where he will face tough competition from several well-performing players. By the looks of things, Novak doesn’t have to be worried.
