Italian Cyclist Set New World Record

At the world track cycling championships in France, F.Ganna marked a brand-new record in the four thousand meter individual rides within a little less than four minutes. As the first cyclist to do so at sea level, Ganna’s accomplishment came only 6 days later than the previously set record number by another cyclist.

The main wish came true

Ganna stated that he was seeking to do something extraordinary in the world of cycling. One of his greatest wishes has come true now – setting the world record. He is feeling great relief and wishes to take a pause to recover from intense training and competing.

Ganna cut just about a millisecond off the past record, which was marked in August 2021 by A. Lambie. After finishing more than 4 seconds later, his fellow Italian J. Milan became the second winner in the race. Bigham came in fourth, with Ivo Oliveira of Portugal taking home the bronze.

But that was long before he decided to set the world record. Nevertheless, the five-time world champion in the individual pursuit thinks his previous contests aided his training.

Wins and loses

For Bigham, who in the same week lost his place as the world record maker and lost his medal at the world-wide competition, it was a bittersweet victory. Though he works as a public presentation creator for his team, he still did contribute to Ganna’s success.

Together with his team members, the 31-year-old cyclist won the team pursuit gold medal on Thursday. The Italian fourth was defeated by the British on Friday, but Bigham was unable to stand on the podium.

In interview with the press, Ganna stated that last week was the best week of his life, it has still been incredibly special and memorable for him. Team GB has won 5 awards overall at the competition, but team’s main pursuit was always the gold ones, and the only ones they have ever wished for till the present day.

Not only that, but the women’s cycling team of Great Britain won silver in the women’s squad pursuit despite losing to Italy in the finals.
